Michelle is the adorable daughter of Alice Schoonbroodt and Martin Gervais. She is Belgian through her mother, Canadian through her Dad and American by birth. She was born during the summer of 2013 and has been a true blessing to her parents.
Michelle is raised in German, in French and in English. Her mum talks to her exclusively in German when they are alone together, while her father talks to her in French. She understands all of those languages and is slowly learning how to speak.
Michelle likes to sleep. Her parents trained her to fall asleep on her own. This way, she wakes up in the same position she fell asleep in, which reduces her stress. It was a little hard to achieve but it really pays off for the entire family. Her sleep schedule is based on a good routine. As long as the routine is preserved, she will sleep well. But parents, be aware if her routine gets broken. You will pay for it! Her routine works so well that Michelle has no problem to adapt to Belgian time when she visits her grandparents.
When she wakes up, Michelle takes time to speak to herself in way that almost sounds like a song. It is really cute. Her parents have an application on their phone that enables them to see when she is ready to start the day. If they enter her bedroom too soon, she won’t want to get up; too late and she will be nervous. Alice and Martin are really great about decoding her. It takes a lot of patience. High Five to the parents!
In the morning, Michelle gets to pick her clothes. Usually Alice or Martin presents her with two options. As many children, Michelle always prefers the 3rd option... After getting dressed, it is time for breakfast! Michelle really LOVES cheese. Käze! Käze!
A few times a week, Michelle goes to daycare. She gets to play with children her age, learn from older kids and really loves it. Understanding the day care system took a while and her parents are grateful for all the love Michelle has gotten from people besides her family.
When her parents are not around, she steals their books on statistics, demographics and macroeconomics to plan on conquering the world. Oh wait, I made that up. She needs no book to rule the world. She makes any adult melt whenever she looks at them. And now it is time to play!
